 Save the universe


We have to save the universe

Not enough the save the earth 

There is no life outside our world 

That sins and saves, that sings and prays. 


It is a challenge to persuade

Our leaders to extend this story

To curb our lust for gold and glory 

To turn us back from climate hell


That would end our life on earth

Would quench the music in the galaxy

Would silence laughter throughout space 

That lifts and cheers  the human race. 


We are wading in the valley

In the shadows of despair

We must raise our sights

For hope to bring us there. 


Without that hope we’re naught

The courage to have fought 

And lost and won and persevered

When the hopeless disappeared. 


Hope is our beacon and our light

To hold our nerve and fight the fight

To never tire for what is right

To shield the candle through the night. 


We are the people of the Light

Strong of will and clear of sight

We will keep the flame alive

Make our hopes and dreams survive.

  Te Deum Te deum agamus gratias This cool October evening Now that the autumn air Is cool and clear and full of peace.  We shall give thanks From misty morning til the sun Has disappeared behind the mountains And pink skies light the west.  Grateful for this day For this very moment  Joyful in the now Captured by the present.  The morning rain has passed It fills with smells the forest floor The crows croak high up in the trees Their rasping voices singing vespers.  Below the city thrums with traffic A distant roar, a constant hum Up on the Hill we sit above The cares of life and everything.  Simple pleasures on a simple day Around a corner stands a tree Like a soldier straight and bare A wooded sentinel in prayer.  Other voices ring the woods Calls and thrills and cheeps Night-time stories told to chicks Lull little feathered ones to sleep.

  Praise the Lord Praise the Lord who made the earth Inside the symmetry of a solar system Whose sisters number billions Across the mighty Milky Way.  He made our galaxy no orphan Arm in arm with cousin Andromeda One among  two  trillion galaxies And more we’ll never see.  On this blue planet he made man  Product of four billion years And countless starry nights Under an uncertain sky.  Begot of luck and skill Pure chance and a hand divine That chose this blessed corner To hear his story told  In song and verse and hymn Rising through the spires of churches Far and wide across the oceans The peoples came and prayed.  Now no longer time to praise the Lord, Sundays busy now with children’s games   The sound of praise has dimmed across the skies Empty churches lie vacant among the valleys.   Forgotten God becomes forgetting God He loses interest for they have too So alone they spin across the void upon their own Unsure, not knowin...
