It’s a mild December morning
It’s a mild December morning.
It’s a mild December morning
A mid month revelation
Between the rains and snow
As Christmas Day comes near.
All the better being unexpected
A season’s gift - surprise
The grey clouds disappear
The sun brings winter cheer.
Townpeople leave their houses
Hats and scarves are surplus
Dog walkers now emerge
Grateful for the moment.
In five brief days the limpid sun
Will turn its course again
The days will lengthen
A year has come and gone.
Further from our birth
Nearer to our grave
Enjoying more than ever
The world that God has made.
Squeezing pleasure even more
From the simple things of course
Now every second counts
As time files out the door.
A traffic jam, so what?
Just more time to savour
The music in the car
When delay is just a favor.
